Ashampoo Home Designer 1.0
Plan out the look of your next home decoration or renovation project

Ashampoo Home Designer is a 3D home planning tool which makes it easy to see how your next home project will look, without having to pay for a professional designer.

You start by providing the dimensions of your room, then add walls, windows, doors, maybe carpets to create the initial shell. Then you'll add further objects - the tables, chairs, bath, TV cooker, whatever's appropriate - and reorganise, rearrange and relocate these until you find the layout you need.

And then you can dress it further for enhanced realism. Would your room look better with parquet flooring or granite tiles, for instance? Choose the appropriate material and you'll see, right away. You're even able to import your own photos to use as backgrounds, maybe a view of your garden as it will appear through the window, to give you the best possible idea of how your romm will appear in real life.

It's hard to tell what works from a standard 2D view, of course, so Ashampoo Home Designer also allows you to look at your new room from any angle and position: outside the room, inside, above or below, from the door, the window, with whatever perspective and zoom factor you like.

Whatever your viewpoint, professional lighting and ray-tracing algorithms mean the program will quickly deliver an attractive and very realistic view of your plan. And you can then share this with others in a variety of ways, from multiple bitmaps showing the room from every angle, to lists of the fixtures, fittings and materials you've used, perfect if you now want to ask a professional builder or other tradesman to carry out this work for you.

How To Get Your Serial Code

Follow the instructions through installation.

Upgrade Offer - Ashampoo 3D CAD Architecture 2

If this isn't enough, though, Ashampoo produce another program called 3D CAD Architecture 2 that may be of interest. It adds new 3D objects, smooth shadows for more realistic interior views, a surface design tool, quantities plug-in, a virtual tour option to help explore your project, and more. Click the MyAshampoo > Upgrade... option to find out more.

Verdict:

The program is a little short on 3D objects - there are only a few kitchen appliances, for instance - but if you can make do with the selection on offer then Ashampoo Home Designer will prove a straightforward and easy-to-use CAD and home planning tool

Auslogics Internet Optimizer 2.0.6

Free Full Commercial Software

Auslogics Internet Optimizer is an unusually comprehensive internet connection tweaking tool.

If you're baffled by networking jargon then there's no need to delve too deeply, though. Just launch the program, choose your internet connection speed, click Analyze and Internet Optimizer will recommend improvements to your system settings. After applying these with another click, reboot, then try a few internet apps and see if you spot any performance gains.

If you prefer to take a hands-on approach, however, opting for a Manual Optimization will display every setting the program understands, and allow you to configure it yourself. There's plenty on offer here: Windows-specific tweaks (auto heuristics, auto tuning), the full range of TCP/IP, WinSock and DNS settings, and even some useful browser-specific tweaks for IE, Firefox and Opera. No Chrome support yet, but that's still an impressive 88 configuration options.

Does it work? The program appeared to improve our test system's download speed by around 6%, according to SpeedTest.net, a small but welcome gain. It's hard to measure changes elsewhere as there are so many factors involved, but IE's browsing performance also seemed noticeably better.

Of course optimising your internet connection is a tricky business, and whether you use the auto or manual mode, it's possible that one of the changes might make your system slower than it was before. No need to worry, though, as Internet Optimizer backs up your original settings before it makes any tweaks, so if you'd like to undo its changes, just click File > Rescue Centre and restore the last backup.

Please note, Internet Optimizer is one component of Auslogics BoostSpeed 5, the company's excellent PC optimisation suite - check it out if you'd like to see what else they have to offer.
