Being able to store files in the cloud and access them from any computer with an internet connection is deniably useful – it eliminates the need to manually transfer files between machines. But there are also security concerns to take into account, and there is the possibility that your files and transfers could be intercepted and used by others. This is something that SharedSafe helps to avoid by offering encryption for online files.

The program can be used to store and encrypt files online. It can be used in conjunction with Dropbox, but there is also the option of working with IMAP email accounts and FTP storage. Whichever route you decide to go down, you can then take advantage of 256-bit AES encryption which takes place client-side. Files in your selected folders will be automatically synchronized.

The safes you create can take various forms, and in the case of Dropbox or an FTP server, they are little more than regular files. But in the case of IMAP email accounts, your safes are stored as folders within your email account which makes it easy to access you files from anywhere without interfering with the normal operation of your inbox.

To help make the program easier to use, there is the option of enabling context menu integration. This provides you with access to SharedSafe options from within Explorer so it is very easy to link, share, encrypt and verify the contents of folders.

There are three different versions of SharedSafe available. The free edition can be used to encrypt your online storage and allows you to work with one set of linked folders. If your needs are slightly greater, you might want to take a look at the personal edition which allows for an unlimited number of linked folders. Taking things one step further, a commercial license includes all of these options and allows for commercial usage.
