Yes, it's true, that does sound a little dull. But look at the program image. These aren't boring digital timers: they're high resolution vector images which look and work just like an analogue clock (the second hand moves), and can be resized to any scale and set to a 3D perspective view without losing any quality.

But if you're not interested in such eye candy, don't worry, there's plenty of practical functionality here, too. So for instance you can have multiple clocks running, each set to a different time zone. You're able to set alarms for a particular date and time, or just after a fixed period (15 minutes, say). And you get to choose the message and sound that will play when the alarm goes off.

There are also plenty of options to configure exactly how the clock will be displayed. You can have it shown on top of other windows, maybe, if you really must keep an eye on the time. The clock can be made transparent if you'd like to still see what's underneath. You can send it to the background to make sure it doesn't get in the way of other apps, or you can just run the clock as another program.

And, interestingly, the program doesn't come as one big framework that you install, and then choose the clock design you prefer. What you actually get is a small (around 1.1MB) executable file for every clock, and these are portable, so you can add them to a USB key and have the same timer features on whatever PC you might happen to be using.
