Freemake Video Downloader is a simple tool to help you download clips from online video sharing sites.
Unlike most of the competition, the program doesn't have to sniff out the download link from network traffic. Instead you simply paste the URL for the page hosting the clip - the "www.youtube.com/watch?v=something" part - and it should be able to extract the video link for you.
We say "should", because in our tests this didn't work on every occasion. It was successful most of the time, though, at which point Freemake Video Downloader asked us for the clip resolution we'd like to download, conveniently displaying the file size to help us make a decision.
And the program also provides a handy "Conversion" option. If the FLV, MP4 or 3GP formats commonly offered by YouTube don't suit your needs, for instance, then Freemake Video Downloader can convert your clip to AVI video or just an MP3 soundtrack.
The program supports all the main video sharing sites, and quite a few of the minor ones, too: YouTube, Facebook, Google, Megavideo, MTV, MTV Music, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Vimeo, LiveLeak, Veoh and Photobucket, amongst others.
The latest v3.0.1 ships with these new features/fixes:
-Added the possibility to download iFrame embedded YouTube videos
-Added the support for TED.com
-Fixed the issue with downloading from Vimeo, TubePlus and other sites

I have no idea either why the editor rated this tool so low! I found the dowloader outstanding, yes, so far it's the best I've ever seen. Recommended

You can always disagree :) That's why we have the user rating and these comments.

I don't know what problem the author of this review encountered, with me this software works nicely well, never crashes, rips online videos in shortest time. I'm entirely satisfied and recommend Freemake Video Downloader to all users!
